So were we, and now I’ve got a great, inexpensive solution to share. We’ve had a decent 720p HD monitor hanging on the wall in our office lobby for some time now:
The problem is we were basically running a PowerPoint (not HD) from a computer through the wall and to be honest, it wasn’t the greatest quality. That’s been our system for a while now, but we finally got a better solution in place this week.
I got a call from our IT department saying that they thought a Roku box (affiliate link) would accomplish the job via one of its new content providers, FrameChannel. I was...

In my last post, I talked at length about how I prepare for my life on the road each fall. I put around 6,000 miles on my little Honda Civic each year, and so I am very concerned with what I will have available for listening. To be honest, I almost never listen to music in my car anymore! As I put it in that last post:
My favorites include The Dave Ramsey Show, This Week in Tech, MacBreak Weekly, and The Tech Guy. My car plays MP3 CDs, so I just load them on a CD-RW, and the disc starts playing where it left off every time I get in the car. When I’ve listened through the disc, I just use...

Confession: I’ve kind of been checking the App Store on my iPhone just a little bit too much lately. The reason? Like many, I am just itching for the latest edition of Facebook (version 3.0 if you’ve been hiding under a rock) to come out. It was submitted to Apple for review last week, and since then the iPhone hype mill has been buzzing about when it will actually be approved.
TechCrunch does a great job running down the list of new features that this app will bring to the table. There’s two that I am particularly interested in: video uploading from the 3GS and access to...

So, where did the summer go? I feel as though just yesterday I was sitting with colleagues on the evening of May 1, grateful that another successful recruitment season had come to a close.
Now here we are, on the cusp the next recruitment cycle, and I have to say — I’M EXCITED. This year’s incoming class is the most technology-savvy, forward thinking group of students ever to be recruited for college. They are ready for us to dazzle them with authenticity and to share with them our institution’s story and how it can be theirs. That’s what we do, right? We provide...
