The financial crunch on higher ed: it’s real, and you’re at the forefront.

It’s no secret to any of us that the economic recession that both our country and world are feeling right now will (already is) having a direct impact on higher education.  All signs point to the challenges that colleges and universities will encounter this year and next, at the very least.  As I heard our President remark on these types of national issues this morning, it hit me (maybe for the first time) how the efforts of myself and my colleagues in the Admissions office influence the viability of our institution. Wow. That’s pretty heavy-duty stuff on a Monday morning.

So here’s my call to action (to myself) on this sunny Monday morning in Holland, Michigan: every minute that I am in the workplace is the opportunity to positively impact my institution, its current students, and its future students.  I am committed to working harder than ever to ensure that Hope will remain an option for many years to come.

Make or reaffirm that investment in your work today; I’m sure you will feel a renewed sense of purpose as you go about your daily tasks!

Great thoughts, Andrew. Way to step up and declare this in a positive manner. Change starts with you. :)

With so much negativity out there with the news, etc. it seems more important than ever to think positively and speak that into being!
