web 2.0 update: Wufoo revisited

My first post on AD back in July was about Wufoo, a site that allows you to create embeddable forms fast. I haven’t spent a ton of time working with the site in the meantime (travel season, you know), although we did use it for registration for our East Coast Plane Trip.  In the last few weeks Wufoo has become of great use as we look ahead to our spring programming.  Once you start using the site your imagination will run wild, but I thought I would point out a few things that make Wufoo really shine:

1. It’s cheap. If you consider the time and resources needed to hard code forms like these, the monthly cost for Wufoo is not a stretch for any budget.  Our current plan is about $25 a month, and with it we can create as many forms as we want (all SSL-encrypted).

2. Field options. Wow, is it easy to create forms on Wufoo.  Just drag and drop from the list, and you’re good to go!

3. Do more! Wufoo provides about 6 options for manipulating the forms that you create.

4. Fully customizable theming. There is a built-in editor for form theming, or you can download the entire Wufoo theme kit for even greater control over the CSS.

5. Excellent reporting. Great options for reporting, including password protection, graphs, charting, and export to .xls, .csv, or .txt.

For $25/month, this site has been a great addition to our repertoire of tools for providing and obtaining content very quickly.
